Christian Counseling: Faith-Integrated Support for Emotional and Relational Healing
-
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Board-Certified Art Therapist with over 25 years of experience, Michelle offers a holistic, Christ-centered approach to the traditional therapy model. Through decades of walking alongside individuals and families, she has witnessed the limitations of psychology when it operates apart from the deeper spiritual reality of our need for God.
As a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, Michelle firmly believes that true healing, restoration, and lasting hope are found only through a relationship with Him—a truth she has experienced deeply in her own life.
Michelle’s counseling approach weaves together her clinical training, professional expertise, and a faith-filled understanding of how God has created us as emotional, relational, and spiritual beings. Rooted in the truth of Scripture, her model of care invites the active presence of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit into the therapeutic process.
This form of Christian counseling is especially valuable for those who:
Are navigating emotional, relational, or behavioral challenges
Desire support that aligns with their faith and Biblical values
Seek a safe, compassionate space where spiritual and emotional growth can occur together
At Hesed House, clients are welcomed into a therapeutic environment where healing is guided not only by sound clinical practice, but by the hope and wholeness found in Christ.

Art Therapy: Creativity as a Path to Healing
In the opening chapters of Genesis, we encounter God the Father as an intentional and deeply engaged Creator. His wonder and glory are revealed in every part of creation. Then, in Genesis 2, He declares, “Let us make man in our image.” Not only did He design the world with precision and care, but He also formed each of us uniquely—with purpose, beauty, and individuality. From the very beginning, God invited us to join Him as co-creators, entrusting us with the sacred work of stewarding and filling the earth.
Creativity, then, is far more than a pastime or an acquired skill. It is a divine gift—one that can also become a powerful pathway for emotional and relational healing.
As a Board Certified Art Therapist, Michelle is passionate about helping individuals engage creatively—through visual art, writing, metaphor, and storytelling—as a means of finding healing and wholeness. Art therapy isn’t about being an artist or producing something impressive. It’s about using creative expression to process emotions, express what words often cannot, and make meaning out of pain or life’s challenges. It offers a visual and experiential reminder of God’s promise to bring beauty from ashes.
This approach is especially meaningful for those who:
Are navigating life’s challenges and transitions
Desire a deeper connection with themselves and their Creator
Are open to exploring healing through creative, expressive means
Art therapy at Hesed House provides a safe and sacred space to explore, create, and heal—guided by the belief that creativity reflects the image of our Creator and opens doors to restoration.

Spiritual Direction: The Art of Sacred Listening
"It is easier to find guides, someone to tell you what to do, than someone to be with you in a discerning, prayerful companionship as you work it out yourself. This is what spiritual direction is."
Eugene H. Peterson
Spiritual direction is a unique, and sacred relationship focused on your connection with the living God. Unlike counseling or mentorship, a spiritual director doesn’t offer advice or solutions. Instead, they serve as a gentle guide and companion—someone trained to listen deeply and help you notice God’s presence, movement, and invitation in your everyday life.
After more than a decade in the field of therapy, Michelle felt a strong call to integrate more of her faith into her work. This led her to earn a Certificate in Spiritual Direction through Christian Formation and Direction Ministries (CFDM)in 2012, where she refined her ability to listen to the soul and accompany others on their spiritual path.
Spiritual direction may be a good fit if you:
Feel spiritually restless or are longing for more in your relationship with God
Are seeking clarity, direction, or discernment
Desire a safe, sacred space to reflect and be heard
Want to deepen your awareness of God in the rhythms of daily life
As with all services offered at Hesed House, spiritual direction can include the use of creativity and art as meaningful tools for exploration and expression. You don’t need to be an artist—just open to engaging your heart in new ways.
